A man believed to be connected with a shooting at a smoke shop in Millcreek that left a man injured last week was arrested during a traffic stop Thursday night, police said. Unified police said Elhelbawy Adam Idrees, 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempted aggravated murder and discharge of a firearm in connection with a shooting at Pharoah's Smoke Shop, 3925 S. State, on Feb. 8 .

Christopher Robert Youngblood was showing off his nitrous oxide-boosted sports car to his sister and his brother-in-law, hitting 90 mph in a 45 mph zone when the vehicle veered off the road, went airborne, hit a wall, then a fence before smashing into a Kearns home. | Bill to create grant program for elementary school counselors gets committee nod
The House Education Committee endorsed legislation Monday that would authorize the Utah State Board of Education to award matching grants to increase numbers of counselors in Utah elementary schools. Rep Steve Eliason, R-Sandy, sponsor of HB264, noted Utah's growing rates of suicide among youths ages 10 to 17. The youngest child to end their life last year was 11 years old, he said.
| Utah man charged with impersonating U.S. marshal
Prosecutors have charged a Kearns man with impersonating a federal agent in an attempt to get money owed to him. Marc Dane Raddon, 34, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with three counts of possession of a weapon by a restricted person, a third-degree felony; criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor; and impersonating an officer, a class B misdemeanor.
